NeuroChecker is a mobile app that guides you through short neurological function tests you can do at home, using nothing more than your phone. Finger tapping, rapid alternating hand movements (dysdiadochokinesis), and a short walking test each take just a few minutes.
Your phone's camera records the test, and machine-learning models track the movement landmarks frame by frame — on the device and again on the server — turning an ordinary phone video into objective signals: tap rate, rhythm variability, amplitude. Over time, NeuroChecker shows trends rather than single readings, so you and your clinician can see whether things are stable, improving, or changing.
Nema, the assistant in the app
Nema keeps track of your day — medication schedule, tasks, appointments, assessments — and answers questions about your own data by voice or by typing, always asking before it writes anything. If a family member is looking after the app for you, Nema speaks to them and refers to you in the third person. It works in German, English, French and Spanish.
The language model behind Nema runs on your own phone, so your conversations are not sent to a cloud AI provider. Nema is an organisational assistant, not a clinical one: a fixed rule checks what you asked before the model is ever involved, and anything that looks like a request for medical advice or an emergency is refused and pointed back to a person.
Built for everyday use
Symptom questionnaires score themselves automatically, vitals logging keeps the fuller picture in one place, and medication reminders help you stay on track. Streaks and achievement badges make regular testing easier to keep up with. With your consent, family members can follow along too.
NeuroChecker is currently in beta: the core tests and tracking are working and in active use, and we are still refining the experience.
